I started Comcast High speed this week.I tried to use it on Windows 98 SE but I couldn't get it to work , even after 5 hours trying.I installed a usb2 pci card last month and a nic pci card and driver this week and they had a conflicting irq problem which I could never work out.I even tried the nic card diagnostic tool, \diag\rset8139.exe tool to test the card.I used win98 because I thoght I might need the Comcast software to initilize the setup. However when I turned on Ubuntu the connection came right up easily. That is after talking with the Comcast people and reporting my Mac address to them. No tweaking at all. It also worked fine on Fc5. Yeah Linux.I downloaded an update of 60 mb in about 4 minutes. I wouldn't mind getting the win98 to work except I've already tried everything I could think of and I don't understand the dos prompt that well. I've never used it before. How would you use the CMOS utility to manually assign a non-conflicting Interrupt number.Thats the bios setup correct? One article said take out the other pci cards which I did. The usb driver install wizard couldn't find a connection between the High speed modem and card and computer on win98.I got more and more confused after several hours.
