Hi all,
So the past few nights on the 11PM TV news in Orlando Florida, they've
blamed Open Source for insecurity of power grid software, claiming that
individuals create components used in that software, and a lot of the
individuals are from Russia and China.
Then they brought in some "professional security expert" talking head
to reiterate what they had just said.
This really frosts my petunias.
Nowhere did they mention that proprietary software is a security
nightmare. Nowhere did they mention that anybody and everybody can look
at Open Source code, and *real* security experts regularly do bang on
Open Source software to find potential security problems. Nowhere did
they mention that commercial software employs developers from various
nations including Russia and China.
This reminds me of the 00's all over again, when Microsoft used every
possible trope to sway the public against Free Software.
