There's also a substantial psychology of social influence, etc. that
factors in. Folks are much more likely to mask up when - and also where -
they see lots of other folks masked up. And likewise not so likely to
mask if they see most or all unmasked. So ...
another good thing to consider - should folks generally be masked up here?
Then put your mask on - and it's more likely others will do likewise - at
least there. I certainly notice this happens a whole lot
business-to-business. Proprietors well masked up, posted mask policy,
most patrons are masked up. Proprietors not masked up, no mask policy,
most patrons maskless. And ... even if the proprietors aren't doing like
most of their patrons ... most of the patrons tend to follow along with
what most of the patrons are doing. Of course there's too, a bit of the
self-selected sample set - some, e.g. patrons, may take a look or such,
and based upon what they see (or have seen or heard before, etc.), may
decide in significant part upon that - to enter ... or not to even enter
(or perhaps only be there as briefly as feasible).
And ... this not only applies to specific businesses and stores and such,
but broader communities, e.g. city or portions thereof, neighborhoods,
regions, etc.
So ... think not only of yourself, your risk tolerance, and risk to others,
think also of what you want others to do in same/similar
space ... and when typically you don't know if they're vaccinated or not.
