The 21st Century.  ;->

It's all my wife Deirdre's fault (well, more than most people). She was
the bug screener at Apple for all bug reports about the Safari Web
browser, and built a dossier of data about an incredibly high percentage
of supposed Safari bugs having been caused by Adobe's ridiculously
defective Flash interpreter taking down the entire browser. This case
information went straight to Steve Jobs's desk, and was instrumental in
his drafting of his famous 'Thoughts on Flash' letter, which in turn
basically doomed the technology -- along with development of better
alternatives via HTML5/Javascript.

So, Deirdre killed it. Yay!

What actual problem are you trying to solve, Terry? Old .flv
animations? Flash games?

Google Chrome has Google, Inc.'s proprietary "Pepper Flash" plugin,
which I believe is unaffected by Adobe's EOLing of its Flash
interpreter. And strange people have been known to extract Pepper Flash
from Google Chrome and load it into the open-source Chromium Web browser
on which Google Chrome is based.
https://computingforgeeks.com/install-pepper-flash-player-for-chromium-on-ubuntu-18-04/

I assume the same trick would also suffice to retrofit Pepper Flash
into other Chromium-based browsers such as Vivaldi, Brave Browser, and
recent versions of Microsoft Edge.

That having been said, Pepper Flash is almost as crufty as Adobe Flash
Player was, and Google, Inc. says the ability to run it in either Google
Chrome or Chromium will be specifically disabled in June 2022.

There's also Gnash, Lightspark, Ruffle, and Shumway. You can read about
those, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash#Players

Flash Veteran Mr. Weebl (most famous for Badger Badger Badger) has
released this tribute to Flash, with tributes to many of the most
famous/infamous Flash animations over the years:
