My friend Erin is currently working covid ICU duty. Her ward has 10 patients, 24 beds, and is currently using 20 of their 24 ventilators. Yes, 2 per patient, because it’s *that* bad. She’s having to bring her personal goggles from home because there aren’t any.

She also points out that a lot of nurses have a full-time job and a per diem somewhere else, so when this ramps up, the somewhere else is not going to have the staffing they need.
