And the solution... give all your passwords to yet another
corporation, 1password.com

Sigh.

I do use a password manager, and random passwords, different for every
site, is a smart thing to do.  But you also want a way to divorce
yourself from any such provider should the need arise, and simply
switching blind trust of individual sites to not share your One True
Password to blind trust in another corporation to be your sole source
is not bright either.
