Yummy!

Kim and I are coordinating to bring:
the ingredients, etc. for making fresh popcorn, and
various optional fixin's one can apply, e.g.:
butter, grated hard cheese(s), various spices / spice blends

Oh, and too, yummy good efficient goof-resistant software
and delicious virtual machine technology:
# ./wake_vicki
Sending magic packet to 255.255.255.255:9 with 00:30:48:91:97:90
# ./Live_Migrate_from_to balug localhost vicki
Migration: [100 %]
0.09user 0.11system 5:18.27elapsed 0%CPU (0avgtext+0avgdata 12156maxresident)k
0inputs+0outputs (0major+693minor)pagefaults 0swaps
Domain balug unmarked as autostarted

Domain balug marked as autostarted

#
That (above) is the "new and improved" way - much easier and much
more goof resistant - and the VM stays up the entire time.

etc.
Compare that to the older more hazardous multi-step semi-manual
with shutdown, cold copy, restart, etc.:
wakeonlan 00:30:48:91:97:90 # Silicon Mechanics S/N SM 35868 eth0/NIC1 "vicki"
# shutdown local, then copy data:
time dd bs=4194304 if=/var/local/balug/balug-sda |
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/home/m/michael/.SSH_AUTH_SOCK ssh -ax -l root
192.168.55.2 'dd bs=4194304 of=/var/local/balug/balug-sda'
# start remote:
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/home/m/michael/.SSH_AUTH_SOCK ssh -atx -l root
192.168.55.2 'virsh start balug --console'
# update autostart:
virsh autostart --disable balug
SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/home/m/michael/.SSH_AUTH_SOCK ssh -ax -l root
192.168.55.2 'virsh autostart balug'
#
So, the above is the older outline/process/steps/commands, and the newer:
# ./wake_vicki
# ./Live_Migrate_from_to balug localhost vicki
Yes, the newer, much easier and cleaner, and much more goof-resistant.
