[conspire] making a FlashDrive look like a CD

It's not really clear what you're trying to achieve, but did you try to 
put on that flash a Linux live image?

Where "live" stand for "I won't need a writeable storage device to 
function".

Then you can make few changes to just mount your home on your hard disk.
