This is true, although I have found thumbnailing of file contents to be
valuable.  This is most useful for image file collections, for which a
decent image management program will provide the same feature.  I also
enjoy nautilus's ability to show me cover pages on PDFs and video file
thumbnails.

It's not something I fire up often, but I run it for specific tasks to
which it is well-suited.
