CABAL ahoy!

We need a suitable occasion for the already-scheduled CABAL meeting
tomorrow, Saturday November 14th, so here's one:

San Francisco, San Jose ranked as 'most pretentious' cities in U.S.

It's a fact: San Franciscans look down on people from San Jose. But do
South Bay residents put on airs almost as much as their neighbors to the
north? The answer is yes, at least if you believe a study done by Café
  Valet. Too bad we don't.

The so-called "pretension index" was dreamed up using criteria like
concentration of independent coffee shops, number of art galleries and a
lack of WalMart stores. Bay Area residents also got dinged by for their
love of yoga, poetry and - of all things - liking the artist Sting (To
be fair "Fields of Gold" was on the radio for a solid decade a while
  back).

Then, after they ran out of other ways, they judged us for having too
many community gardens. Nothing says pretentious like a ripening
  zucchini, I guess.

I have a garden, but it's not community -- because You're Not Worthy.

Despite which, you are invited to the Epicentre of Pretentiousness
(3km west of the San Andreas Fault, as well), mid-way between the twin
capital of undeserved haughtiness for the _whole USA_, San Francisco and
San Jose: tomorrow's CABAL meeting in Menlo Park.

4pm to midnight. Be there, or be no longer chic.[1]

We _are_ likely to still be in my spacious back yard, this time with
the chiminea (outdoor wood-burning heater) running full blast. Because
roasty and nice. BYO marshmallows.

Fresh garlic bread using more of the fresh[2] sourdough bread I'm cooking
tonight. Probably outdoor BBQ meat again.

Visits to the Menlo Park area's independent coffee shops, yoga studios,
art galleries, Whole Foods Markets, philosophy lectures, poetry
readings, Moleskine notebook vendors, operat performances, and
hybrid/electric car dealers are optional. CABAL attendees are _not_
required to bring Sting CDs.

[1] Or be in Riverside. According to TFA, that's the least pretentious
city in California. (But what about West Covina?)

[2] Artisanal!
