You're probably thinking of Enlightenment the way it was back in the
early 2000s.  It was the overblown excessively graphics-rich toy for
kiddies with gobs of video memory and high-end CPUs.  Guess what?  
It's not like that any more.  It's light and fast, these days.  Which
surprised me a _lot_ when I heard.

Try Bodhi Linux.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
