Quoting Adrien Lamothe (alamozzz at yahoo.com):
> Linux Mint comes in a KDE flavor (currently KDE 4.9 on Linux Mint 14 "Nadia".)
One notes also the XFCE4 release candidate (Xfce 4.10). (Actually, the
KDE4 edition is _also_ in release-candidate status, technically.)
Linux Mint 13 'Maya', unlike 14 'Nadia', is a long-term support relesae,
supported until April 2017. In the past, there were also official and
sometimes unofficial 'CE' = 'Community Edition' Linux Mint editions
defaulting to LXDE, Fluxbox, and so on, but those were a _little_ silly
since you can achieve pretty much the same thing by just doing 'apt-get
install fluxbox' (or whatever) on one of the official editions.
But anyway, the XFCE4 edition is official and a full-blown peer of the
Cinnamon/GNOME3, MATE/GNOME2&3-hybrid, and KDE4 ones.
