Just as the first question you ask someone with Linux networking
troubles is 'Does the problem persist if you do "iptables -F"?'
(i.e., did the user shoot himself/herself in the foot with firewalling
rules), the first question you ask someone with USB troubles is 
'Does the problem persist if you eliminate the hub?'
