Rick,
It is all too easy to click on the wrong button because they are not as clearly labeled
as they might be and people are lazy and don't think or don't fully understand the differences
between reply and reply all.
Couple the above with a general decline in care in communications. The emphasis is now on
immediacy and ease of communicating. It is so easy to just write something and press send.
When paper and ink were expensive, we did not waste them. Electrons are very inexpensive and
no trips to the post office for stamps, the stationer's for paper, envelopes and ink. No trip to the post
box or even delay until the postman picks up your missive. Now it is just click on the send button.
