I don't know why this posting would have been _rejected_ (should have
been held for manual approval as a non-subscriber posting), but it
somehow didn't transit the list, so I'm forwarding manaully.
FYI, you-all can make any alternate (non-subscribed) sending address
postable (without your postings being held for approval) by subscribing
it and setting that subscription's 'nomail' option.

Subject: Re: [conspire] (forw) free laptop ?
Hi Rick,
My email address is listed as ajd at adavies.net on the server so this message
will probably be rejected by the list. Anyway, I have a Ubuntu box that I
do most things from when I'm at home. However, these days I'm a student at
Harvard Extension and have a air that I use to take notes on and such.
You're conversation regarding "screen" made me stop and thinks perhaps
there's a better way to do things. Currently I use ssh -X to get into my
box and then just run the aps over ssh. Is there an easy way to get my full
desktop on my air over ssh?
I've taken a look at the screen website, perhaps I just need some sleep, but
I wasn't finding a way to actually pull up the desktop. Probably something
very simple I missed. However, would you be willing to share the step
you've taken to set this up?
Kind regards,
Alan Davies-Gavin
