I don't think that makes much business sense. Evidently Wall Street
agrees. My gut tell's me something else is wrong aside from the change
in CEO orientation. One of two things. A) HP felt it was facing a
patent war with Apple, and B) These guys HATE to complete. They'd
rather surrender whole markets than duke it out. The touchpad and webos
would end up competing with everyone from Apple, to Dell, to MS, and IT
companies have no stomach for real capitalistic competition. They seem
to be spoiled by historically easy profits, and if this guy thinks
turning HP into SAP while facing down their current wows with Oracle and
the Itarium Chip wars, he might just turn HP into a new Novell.
eh - I'm pretty frustrated with it all. BTW - best as I can tell, once
the price dropped to 150 all those toucpads sold out at Best Buy in a
few hours.
