Incidentally, I just wanted to put in a nice word for a fast, clean, 
single-file PHP utility for administering MySQL databases, Adminer
http://www.adminer.org/ .  It's issued under Apache License 2.0.

It's way cleaner and faster than the painfully baroque phpMyAdmin, and
was created as a lightweight alternative.  When I want to make changes
to the MySQL rows that back the BALE and CABAL schedule entries, I
usually use Adminer.
