I think you're making one or more assumption in that question that
isn't correct, which in turn makes it somewhere between difficult and
misleading to attempt to answer it as phrased.

At least part of your problem probably lies in your phrase "check the
user".  I suspect you're making some inaccurate assumptions about what
callbacks aim to do that are implicit in your phrase.
