Rick had written earlier:
"...professionally sponsored ad
campaign paid for by Clear Channel, CBS Outdoor, and Web-design firm
Idiom Technology, at the time of Nina's disappearance: They had _20_
Nina Reiser billboards along major East Bay roadways, plus a
profesionally-done Web site -- and consequently the story was all over
the news."
I don't see anything odd about media companies stirring up a
long-lasting story that they can feed on for months or even years.
They say, "If it bleeds, it leads," but having no blood and no body,
but lots of suspicion, is even better. What actually happened? Who
knows anything about what happened, but is keeping it secret? Who
knows about the secret, but is keeping _that_ secret? That's how they
build the daily soaps, some of which have been running since before
TV.
Given the mail-order brides, the bitter divorce and custody battle,
assorted emotional states that result, Hans's rather odd personality
and behavior, I would say that the only elements missing are Hans
turning out to have multiple personalities or an evil twin. Or both.
Or the evil twin has multiple personalities. Or it was a Russian Mafia
killing by a hitman with multiple personalities. Or a deep conspiracy
between the Internet Cabal's evil twin and the CIA's alternate
personality [There is no CIA], or...Wait, I've got it! *I* have an
evil twin with multiple personalities who looks just like Hans Reiser,
and one of our multiple personalities thinks he's OJ.
Um, powerful lot of weather we've been having lately, haven't we? It's
45 insanely Fahrenheit today, you know. %-]
