Probably ubuntu ppc (or the kubuntu variant). You might even find
fluxbuntu more to your liking. It's a much lower footprint than kde or
gnome, although I have been able to run kde successfully well in a 256
meg athlon environment (1ghz ix what I still use).

The alternate cd is a text-based install if you have trouble with the
install on the live cd's. I didn't have any PPC distros in my ubuntu
collection that I brought to the installfest yesterday.

If you're coming to Sat CABAL let's see if we can put a fluxbuntu ppc
on your box if one is available. Otherwise you'll want debian iso

Do you have a decent internet connection? Or is it simply burner difficulties?

I see from your netzero connection you're probably on dialup...
