I used to syadmin an AS/400 - OS/400 SQL-database box way back in the
late '80s, early '90s (among a bizarre and diverse crop of boxen running
at the firm I then worked at).  The experience struck me at the time as
strikingly akin to doing penance for some particularly awful past sin --
thus my comment ("You must have been very bad").
