Fairly short version.

He had cancer. He had surgery.
The cancer came back.
He went to an oncologist.
Oncologist said: radiation not recommended for this case.
Chemo n/a for this case.
Surgery, well, you saw how well that worked, and this is an insidious  
form.

So he had a leg amputated. :(

Since it was amputated on Wednesday, he's still fairly out of it.
