Due to the nature of what's inside that particular .deb, the answer in
this case is no. You need to install Java.

I don't remember offhand, but that's entirely possible.

KPPP will not work with NetZero because NetZero deviates slightly from the
PPP standard, in a rather good way technically, but they use that
technical improvement to their advantage in that it generates an
logistical incompatibility with all other PPP software, forcing one to use
their (normally ad-ridden) software.

Unfortunately, the Fedora way of doing that seems to be to log into X as
root, which I strongly recommend against doing for any reason.
