Since I still have my Earthlink dial-up account, I can access
the internet.

When I spoke with tier 2 technical support from DSL Extreme
Thursday night, 8 June 2006, I was told the problem is that
on my PC I have ipv6 running on my PC. That doesn't make
sense since I can't get an IP on my iMac either and I don't
see a ipv6 IP on my iMac when I run ifconfig. Also, I have
NOT checked the "enable ipv6" box in the gui for the eth0
device so why am I seeing an ipv6 IP when I run ifconfig?
I don't know what service to look for to stop. I don't know
what to look for in "rpm -qa" to delete or if I need to
delete a package.

Here is output of ifconfig on my PC from Thur, 8 June 2006
at 22:16. What is the significance of "frame:11" and
"carrier:3"? I notice that this run of ifconfig give shows
no collisions.

I have also tried the following:

At SVLUG meeting someone who attends CABAL, I apologize for not
remembering your name, suggested I have only one phone filter just
to narrow down the potential problems. I unplugged the 2nd phone
filter. I also tried plugging the modem directly into the PC and
directly into the iMac. I have also rebooted both computers.

DSL Extreme shows I have a good line. DSL Extreme sees my hardware
addresses and IPs for both my PC and iMac. I am very confused as to
why everything worked like a charm from the 10th of May til the end
of May/beginning of June (I don't remember if the problem started
30th or 31st of May or 1st June). From when the problem started thru
5th June, I would eventually get an IP. Since 6th June I have been
unable to get an IP using DSL Extreme and finally resorted this
morning to use my Earthlink dial-up account which I have not yet
cancelled.

I plan on unhooking the Earthlink dial-up and rehooking up DSL
Extreme after I send this email.

If you have a suggestion and would want to contact me my phone
number is:

I won't be home until late tonight, Friday, 9 June 2006. My sister
has a compound fracture of her right ankle, she broke her ankle,
Wednesday, 31st May, so I'm assisting her while she's still in bed
healing. If you call and I'm not home please leave a time I can call
you. It is okay to call no matter how late at night or early in the
morning.

Sorry for the lengthy email.

Thank you for your attention,

Darlene Wallach
