Indeed, I was once employed at $FIRM, a one-time large Linux hardware
firm that transmogrified itself into a particularly hideous proprietary
software firm while I was there. In the latter phases, I was actually
_officially reprimanded_ by my laughably spineless and sleazy alleged
boss, a waste of $1.20 in assorted chemicals whom we'll call A.T., for
daring to not use Microsoft Word _format_ for an assigned report. (I
used vi and wrote it in HTML with tables, as that seemed fastest.)

The politics of corporate desktop IT is particularly mindless and
loathesome, generally -- and it doesn't help that open source / Linux
advocates tend to approach the problem with boundless naivete about
IT departments' decision processes. I've seen way too many initiatives
crash and burn, for that reason above all others.
