Actually me and my friends are planning to start a lug specifically for our college campus. the reason is we have about zero linux awareness at our college. we have a local linux group at our city(delhi) which is really alive.(http://linux-delhi.org) it would be nice if you could share experiences of what to expect while setting up a college specefic lug. basically we'll be stressing on coding/advocacy/install-fests. looking forward to hear from you, regards, rohit. [another update] also the link update thing there's another link that list's lug's in india. its: http://www.linux-india.org [/another update] thanks again for your advice.. regards, rohit. RM notes about topics that need coverage: single points of failure out-of-band contact methods Special continuity problems of college groups. Monitoring of key assets, e.g., domain registration. "Remind" scripts for domain expiration. Scripts to monitor for failures of backup nameservers and MXes. Paying domain registration for many years in advance. Problem of inward-looking information. Pervasive misconceptions about USA 501(c)(3) non-profit status, benefits of incorporation, and liability insurance. It's interresting and I'm heading to create local LUG. I found little error in your doc. In the 23. Walk the walk. You have twice the link to 'screem' software. Thanx a lot for you howto Regards lubomier Date: Fri, 01 Sep 2006 20:28:01 +0200 From: "vincenzo.virgilio@poste.it" To: rick@linuxmafia.com Subject: Lug Guide Hi! i was updating the entry of my lug on lugww and i took a look at that page. First of all, i manage also www.linuxsicilia.it and it was strange to me to go to www.linuxmafia.com... So, your version of 2004 needs some updating, like some LUG directory listings are not still on place, like redhat and instead Ubuntu has a working one. Also, i was thinking about some suggestion. At last, if you agree, i'd like to put an italian translation of your page and could be that we could take and translate some argument of your linuxmafia to our linusicilia.it... Let me know. Vincenzo Virgilio P.S. Why you choose linuxmafia???? I'm still laughing Quoting Matthew Craig (matthew.t.craig@gmail.com): > Thank you for continuing to host the New LUG FAQ. I've inquired of Hugo van der Kooij aka Hugo van der Kooij , who is maintainer of the Linux Counter pages (including the now-missing pages you cited), to see what news is available. I've made a note to follow up for the next update of the HOWTO. Thanks again, Rick M.
