Q: We would like to remove the Linux partition from this and some other systems (7 or 8 others) and leave the NT part alone. I would appreciate any help to do this safely. Can I do it on the NT side without booting Linux?

A: In order to do this, you`ll need to run the fdisk program and redefine the linux partition(s) as type 6. They'll then show up as drives D, E, etc. You can then format these partitions, being careful not to reformat an existing NT partition. Then, boot a DOS floppy and run

fdisk /mbr

to wipe lilo from the master boot record and use the NT loader exclusively.

These steps work when using a DOS or Windows diskette, and likely work from within NT. If not, try the same steps from a Windows 95 or DOS boot floppy.
