Q: Does Linux support IDE tape drives?

I am trying to investigate the possibility of using an IDE tape drive. There are drivers for SCSI tape drives and for floppy controller-type tape drives (ftape), but it is not clear to me if I can set up an IDE tape drive.

A: It should be /dev/ht0. If you use your own kernel, you may need to enable IDE (ATAPI) tape support, when you compile.
