Q: How do I re-enable lilo after replacing my hard drive?

I've received a replacement for a bad hard drive. The partition build was reversed on the new drive — ext2 is now /sda2, swap is now /sda3, where they were reversed on the original drive. I tried the advice for ROOT=/mnt /mnt/sbin/lilo and the "Added Linux *", etc. does display. When I reboot, nothing has changed — still straight to WinNT. How can I re-enable LILO?

A: I think lilo is being written to your root partition. Try marking the Linux root partition as active. You can do this from Linux or NT Disk Administrator.
