99 Ranch Market, 1070 Foster City Blvd. near Marlin Ave., Foster City. Pan-East Asian, Chinese mostly.

Suruki Supermarket, 71 E 4th Ave. near San Mateo Drive, San Mateo. Top-rated Japanese market on Yelp. Also prepared meals and sashimi.
Nijiya Market, 1956 S El Camino Real near 20th Ave., San Mateo. Smaller than some of the others, prized for its fresh meals.
Takahashi Market, 221 S Claremont St. near 3rd Ave., San Mateo. Small market, but what people rave about is its prepared foods.
Hashi Market, 2992 S Norfolk St, S. of CA-92 at La Selva. Ave., San Mateo Large Japanese/Korean and pan-East Asian Market.

Mega-Mart, 1775 E Bayshore Rd East Palo Alto. Large, mostly Korean food market, with excellent kitchenware aisle.

Nijiya Market, 143 E El Camino Real, between Grant Road and CA-85, Mountain View. Full-service Japanese supermarket, fresh sushi-grade fish, sliced meats, prepared foods and imported sweet-and-savory snacks.

Hankook Supermarket, 1092 E El Camino Real, W. of Lawrence Expressway, Sunnyvale. Top-reviewed on Yelp. Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian food products. Has more traditional Korean items compared to H-Mart and MegaMart.
Mega-Mart, 760 E El Camino Real, between S. Fair Oaks Ave. / E. Remington Dr. and S. Wolfe Road, Sunnyvale. Large, mostly Korean food market, with excellent kitchenware aisle.
New Wing Yuan Market, 1139 N Lawrence Expressway between Tasman Dr. and US-101, Sunnyvale. Large market. Pan-East Asian, Chinese mostly. (Entire aisle of Filipino specialties.)

Mitsuwa Marketplace, 675 Saratoga Ave. at Moorpark Ave., San Jose. Full-service Japanese supermarket, and one of my old favourites.
T&T Supermarket, 1600 Saratoga Ave at Prospect Road / W. Campbell Ave., San Jose. Large, full-service Japanese supermarket.
H-Mart, 1179 S De Anza Blvd, just N. of CA-85, San Jose. Korean but somewhat pan-East Asian, big.
Nijiya Market, 240 Jackson Street at N. 5th Street (Japantown), San Jose. Smallish Japanese market, with snacks, fresh-made items, housewares.
Santo Market, 245 E Taylor Street at N. 5th Street (Japantown), San Jose. Somewhat limited supply of groceries: common items only. Mostly sells meals and prepared foods.

Tokyo Central, 19750 Stevens Creek Blvd. between N. Blaney Ave. and N. Wolfe Road, Cupertino. Many specialty Japanese items including candies, snacks, and soft drinks, as well as prepared meals.

Fugetsu Market, 3409 El Camino Real, East of Lawrence Expressway Santa Clara. At this writing (June 2026), appears to be mostly grab and go Japanese take out, not (yet?) a grocery.
